How often should I have my carpets professionally cleaned?

  • Most homes benefit from professional carpet cleaning every 6–12 months.

  • If you have pets, children, allergies or heavy foot traffic, we recommend every 3–6 months.

  • Peak Steam provides professional carpet cleaning throughout Canmore, Banff, Cochrane, Exshaw, Lake Louise and the Bow Valley to help extend the life of your carpets and keep your home looking its best.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Most carpets dry within 2–4 hours.

At Peak Steam, we use high-pressure steam extraction, which removes more water during the cleaning process. That means less moisture is left behind, resulting in faster drying times compared to many traditional carpet cleaning methods.

Drying time can vary depending on:

  • Humidity

  • Airflow

  • Carpet thickness

  • Time of year

To help speed up the process, we bring industrial air movers with us and will use them before we leave. We also recommend keeping windows open (weather permitting) educe drying time even further.

When can I walk on my carpet?

Immediately with clean socks, although they may get a bit damp.

You can walk on your freshly cleaned carpets as soon as we've finished, as long as you're wearing clean socks or bare feet. We recommend avoiding shoes until the carpet has completely dried, as they can track in dirt and leave marks on damp carpet fibres.

For the best results, try to minimize foot traffic while the carpet is drying and keep windows open or fans running (weather permitting) to help speed up the drying process.

Is steam cleaning better than shampoo cleaning?

Yes. Steam cleaning removes dirt, allergens and bacteria from deep within the carpet fibres while leaving behind very little residue.

This means your carpets stay cleaner longer and dry faster than traditional shampoo cleaning.

Can steam cleaning help with allergies?

professional steam cleaning in canmore, banff, and cochrane

Yes. While professional carpet cleaning isn't a cure for allergies, it can help reduce many of the allergens and contaminants that build up in your carpets over time.

Professional steam cleaning helps remove:

  • Dust

  • Allergens

  • Pet dander

  • Dust mites

  • Pollen

  • Everyday dirt and debris

Over time, these particles settle deep within your carpet fibres and can become airborne again with everyday foot traffic. Our high-temperature steam cleaning and powerful extraction process lifts and removes contaminants from deep within the carpet, helping create a cleaner, fresher indoor environment.

Many homeowners notice their home feels cleaner, smells fresher, and experiences less dust after a professional carpet cleaning. Regular cleaning is especially beneficial for homes with pets, young children, or family members who are sensitive to dust and seasonal allergens.

Can professional carpet cleaning remove stains?

Many stains can be significantly improved or completely removed, including:

  • Coffee

  • Wine

  • Mud

  • Food

  • Pet accidents

  • Everyday dirt

Results depend on the type of stain, how long it's been there and whether any DIY products have already been used.

Can you remove pet odours?

Yes!

Pet urine doesn't just sit on the surface of your carpet. It can soak through the carpet fibres and into the backing, underlay, and even the subfloor, where bacteria can continue to grow and create lingering odours.

At Peak Steam, we don't just clean the surface. Our professional steam cleaning process penetrates deeper into the carpet to help remove dirt, bacteria, and odour-causing contaminants. We also use targeted odour treatments to neutralize smells at the source.

Whether you need pet odour removal, pet stain removal, or professional carpet cleaning in Canmore, Banff, or Cochrane, our experienced carpet cleaners are here to help restore your home to its freshest state.

The sooner a pet accident is treated, the better the chances of completely removing both the stain and the odour—so call us right away!

eco-friendly and safe cleaning

Is carpet cleaning safe for children and pets?

Absolutely.

From day one, our mission has been to provide a cleaning service we'd feel confident using in our own home. As proud dog owners ourselves, we understand that pets are family, which is why we've always been committed to using eco-friendly cleaning products that are safe for children, pets, and allergy-sensitive households.

Combined with our professional steam cleaning process, our products help remove dirt, allergens, and bacteria without relying on harsh chemicals, leaving your home fresh, clean, and ready for the whole family to enjoy.

It's a commitment we've had since the day Peak Steam was founded—and one we're proud to continue with every home and business we clean.

Do I need to vacuum before you arrive?

Yes.

We ask that all carpets be thoroughly vacuumed before we arrive. Vacuuming removes loose dirt, dust, pet hair, and surface debris, allowing our professional steam cleaning process to focus on lifting the deep-down dirt, stains, allergens, and bacteria embedded within the carpet fibres.

Preparing your carpets in advance helps us deliver the best possible results and ensures your appointment is as efficient as possible.

Do I need to move furniture?

Yes.

We ask that you remove smaller items, décor, and lightweight furniture from the areas you'd like cleaned before we arrive. This helps us work efficiently and ensures we can achieve the best possible results.

If you have larger and heavier furniture, we'll carefully work around the furniture.

If you have a specific piece of furniture you're unsure about, just let us know before your appointment and we'll be happy to discuss the best approach.

When can I put furniture back?

Once your carpet is completely dry.

We recommend waiting until your carpets are fully dry before placing furniture back in its original position. This helps prevent moisture from becoming trapped beneath furniture, which can leave marks on the carpet or affect the drying process.
